Fly Fishing In Maine

Our area is best known for the famous Roach River, which runs six miles from First Roach Pond to Moosehead Lake. We are within walking distance to the headwaters of this beautiful river. The lower river also offers many fantastic pools, which are accessible by trail, from various tote roads. We can assist with guiding or directions, whichever you choose. This river is a flyfishing only, catch and release fishery, resulting in excellent salmon and brook trout fishing. There are many quiet pools to toss your "secret" fly in, in the hopes of luring that record brook trout or salmon to follow and swallow!

If you enjoy small pond fishing, we are surrounded by many remote ponds offering flyfishing for brook trout.

Drift Boat Fishing

We are also within driving distance of the West Branch of the Penobscot River and the East Branch of the Kennebec River. Both of these waterways are known for some of the finest fishing in Maine. Stretches of these rivers are wadeable, however, to make your day on these rivers more enjoyable and adventuresome, we offer guided fishing trips from our 17' Hyde drift boat.

Our 17-foot Hyde drift boat

The Boat is fully outfitted for two fly fishermen and the float trip allows us reach those eddies and pools beyond the reach of waders. This is truly one of the most enjoyable ways to spend a day on a river. These rivers offer the fly fisherman ongoing action through the whole fishing season with numerous hatches throughout the summer months.

Ice Fishing

To help you get through those long winter months we offer ice fishing outings for the serious fisherman and for the family vacationers that want to get on the ice, have a picnic lunch and enjoy catching some fish. We fish for trophy Lake Trout by jigging; fish in the 8-10# class are common. We also fish for Salmon, Brook Trout and Splake. These fish can provide plenty of flag action. We have many bodies of water that provide exciting ice fishing within a short snowmobile ride of the lodge, so come along and enjoy a fun winter day.
