Ruffed Grouse (known as ‘Partridge’ in Maine woods) is the iconic upland bird of Maine. Forest management practices here provides habitat supporting great numbers of these exciting game birds, renowned for their classic drumming and spectacular flushes. They are also one of our best eating and versatile game animals, rewarding us with delicious and organic meals long after the thrill of the hunt. The season runs from October 1 through December 31.
